German by birth, Max Kühner became an Austrian citizen in 2015.
He's not only a show jumper, but also the head of a finance company that's active in Germany and Switzerland. His parents have always had horses, but weren't professional riders. Max Kühner took his first riding lessons in Austria during a holiday when there wasn't enough snow to ski.
He has represented Austria at several championships, including the World Championships in Tryon where he took 6th place individually with Chardonnay (Clarimo). It is with this horse that he achieved his best performances, and also took 9th place in the 2019 World Cup Final.
He lives with his wife near Munich. She is a dressage rider and helps him work his horses.
Max Kühner is also involved in the FEI and the IJRC.
