Son of the famous horse trader, Axel Verlooy, Jos Verlooy began making a name for himself in his younger years with the new generation. However, it was soccer that he first turned to. After two seasons without much success, he then concentrated on horse riding.

Already a European medalist with the juniors in 2012, he continued his success with the seniors. In 2019, he won two medals at the European Championships in Rotterdam: with Igor (Emerald), he won Individual Bronze and Team Gold.

Obviously, the young Belgian talent had good counsel, since he was able to benefit from the advice of Harrie Smolders, a long-time rider for the Verlooy stables.

In 2013, he took part in his first European Championships with the senior team, and in 2015 he turned in a nice performance, taking 5th place in his first World Cup Final with his faithful mount Domino (Thunder vd Zuuthoeve). He was the youngest participant in a final of this kind!

Despite his young age, Jos Verlooy has already taken part in several world championships and is already a pillar of the Belgian team.
