The news was announced on Charlotte an Mark McAuley's stable’s social media, Utchan de Belheme (Calvaro) begins a new chapter in his life; his sporting days are now behind him. At 13 years old, the Selle Français has joined the La Tuilière fields where: "He will enjoy his retirement in good company, Kalimba Champeix (Charlotte’s Junior horse) knows the place better than anybody."

He began his competition life with Jocelyn Berthelot in events reserved for young horses, then Utchan de Belheme joined Mark McAuley in 2015, with whom he made his international debut. The pair scored their first win a year later in the CSI2* Grand Prix in Mâcon, before climbing the ranks and earning a spot on the Irish national team. "Powerful, with unlimited scope, Utchan was a fighter as soon as he entered the show ring," his rider said. They competed in their first Nations Cup in Drammen before heading to Rome two weeks later for the First Division CSIO where the duo placed third in the team competition. Their last appearance together was last October at Gorla Minore in the CSI2*.
