No Equita Lyon in 2020!

15 October 2020

Sylvie Robert and her teams have tried everything to try and organize one of the most eagerly awaited events of the winter, but fate has been stubborn towards them. First, they dreamed they could do it, and even the announcement that 5,000 people could attend did not put them off. Then, even the measures reducing the number of visitors to 1,000 left room for the imagination of the GL Events teams. Even then they still wanted to organize an event for riders and drivers in just a horse show over a week. However, yesterday's announcement of the curfew in major French cities has left them no other choice but to completely cancel the competition. So much energy spent, so much effort reduced to nothing. Times are hard for everyone, but the job of organizer is very difficult at the moment.

GL events Equestrian Sport, organizer of the Longines Equita Lyon International Horse Show, is sad to announce the cancellation of the event, initially scheduled from 24 October to 1 November, at Lyon-Eurexpo.

The recent announcements made by the President of France, Emmanuel Macron, on October 14, 2020, and in particular the introduction of a curfew in all the communes of the Metropolis of Lyon, starting from 9 p.m., will no longer allow the organizer to offer international, national and regional players in equestrian sports an event that meets their expectations.

The GL events Equestrian Sport team understands the significance of this decision and shares the disappointment of the athletes, owners and the entire equestrian industry, which has already been heavily impacted by this terrible crisis and its consequences. Sylvie Robert, President of GL events Equestrian Sport, wishes to underline the commitment and support of the event's loyal partners, including the GL events Group and Longines, and sports institutions, first and foremost the International Equestrian Federation, the French Equestrian Federation and the Comité Régional d'Equitation Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes. On behalf of the entire team around her, Sylvie Robert sincerely thanks all of these supporters and enthusiasts from all over the world, who have all from the outset shown their unfailing loyalty to Longines Equita Lyon, International Equestrian Competition.

The 2021 edition of Equita Lyon and Longines Equita Lyon, Concours Hippique International will be held from October 27th to 31st.
