Henrik Ankarcrona announced the news on his social networks. He will remain an active member of the Swedish team for another four years. Appointed Chef d’équipe to succeed Sylve Söderstrand in October 2016, he will stay on until the 2024 Paris Olympic Games. "These first four years have been fantastic, everything has gone so very fast right from the start. The European Championship in Gothenburg came up really quickly, and that was an event that brought extra pressure at home," says Henrik Ankarcrona. Satisfied with his riders in both individual and team events, he points out that "there is still a lot to work on".

As a rider who continues to ride regularly himself, he has nothing to be ashamed of from his first four years at the head of the Swedish team. They achieved second at the European Championships in Gothenburg in 2017 and winner of the Nations Cups in Rome, Falsterbo, Aachen and Hickstead, among other performances. One of the next - and not least - goals for the Chef d’équipe is the Tokyo Olympic Games next year. Despite the cancellation of a multitude of competitions due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Henrik Ankarcrona insists: "The important thing is to keep riders and horses motivated and stress-free. We are in a period of uncertainty, we are planning schedules, but we do not know if we can stick to them and anticipate, so we have to stay calm". One thing is for sure though, having Peter Fredricson, 4th in the world ranking, can only be a motivation for his teammates."He is a superstar and an inspiration to everyone, whether you are a young rider or a top rider. We all have idols whose technique and progress we like to admire", concludes Sweden’s Chef d’équipe.
