Firth of Lorne, Beligneux le Haras’s first recruit
Discovered being ridden by Katrin Eckermann, with whom he won the legendary Hamburg Grand Prix and the Falsterbo Nations Cup, after placing twice in the Mannheim 4* Grand Prix, Firth of Lorne (For Pleasure x Stakkato) unfortunately had to deal with two terrible falls in just a few days at the water jumps in Aachen, which undermined the pair’s confidence, though they nevertheless completed the first round of the Nations Cup clear. The phenomenon then changed rider, winning the Zwolle 3* Grand Prix in particular before being sold to the USA, then coming back under Marcus Ehning’s saddle and placing in many events until this weekend, when he completed his last round in Geneva before devoting himself to his breeding career in France. He will join Beligneux le Haras as other Marcus Ehning stars, including Sandro Boy and Plot Blue, have done.
"We’d already taken a strong interest in Firth of Lorne in 2014, but then he was exported to the USA... but when he returned to Europe, we followed his progress. A few months ago, we discussed the subject with Judith Goeckel, Nybor Pferde’s manager, because I find this stallion really interesting for breeding. He’s by For Pleasure and is a magnificent type with a good canter. We’re really pleased to be able to integrate him into our catalogue."
