The Dutch Masters are to take place in 2021!
Having been initially cancelled after the International Equestrian Federation (FEI) announced the cancellation of all international equestrian events due to equine herpes virus (EHV-1), the Brabant indoor event has finally changed its dates and will indeed take place in 2021! The competition will take place from April 23 to April 25. The program will be like the one planned for March, with the Rolex Grand Slam of Show Jumping Grand Prix on Sunday afternoon, and will include a dressage program (CDI4*) as well.
The press release issued by Rolex Grand Slam management states that the safety of horses and riders will be their priority. "Measures will be taken such as a veterinarian check-up upon arrival, regular temperature measurements and possibly a nose swab of the participating horses. All measures will be discussed in detail in the coming weeks in cooperation with all authorities in order to be well prepared."
With very few competitions on the schedule to prepare riders for the Tokyo Olympics, World No. 1 Steve Guerdat is delighted with the news: "I’m very happy that the Dutch Masters, which is part of the Rolex Grand Slam of Show Jumping, is now scheduled for April. It’s very important for riders to compete again at this level, so I am looking forward to it."
