Contagio is retiring from sport

04 May 2020

At the age of 16, the Holsteiner stallion Contagio (Colman x Lordanos) will no longer compete in sport. He had reached the highest level of showjumping with Lars Nieberg before allowing the latter's son, Gerrit, to make his mark at the top level. He placed second in the Cagnes-sur-Mer 3* Grand Prix and 4th in the Samorin 3* Grand Prix, and won the Uggerhalne CSIO3* Nations Cup where the father-and-son team joined forces. The pair also joined the Mannshaft team at the Nations Cups in Sopot and Rome.

"We had planned for him to bid farewell at the Munster CSI4* this year, but given the current health crisis, that won't be possible, and it doesn't make sense to wait another year. Contagio is very popular with breeders and he’ll now be able to devote himself to breeding full-time," Lars Nieberg explained to spring-reiter.de.
