Comdero I van Beek Z has moved to Gilles Thomas
Comdero I van Beek Z (Comme Il Faut x Vigaro x Holland), who discreetly arrived at his new stables during containment, will pursue his career with the young Belgian talent Gilles Thomas. After Feromas van Beek Z (Fantomas de Muze x Tangelo vd Zuuthoeve x Holland) (pictured), who he rode last year in the 7-year-old Belgian Championship Final, Marc van Dijck's nephew will also pilot his year-younger cousin. Both horses were born at Guido Herrijgers’ in Hoogstraten, who still owns them now.
"I think they're two very interesting, modern horses with a good amount of blood. They both come from the same line as their respective mothers are maternal half-sisters who have both toured internationally. It's been six weeks since Comdero came to us. We took advantage of this containment period to work and get ready for the season, while allowing him to cover mares as well. Yesterday, we had a training session at Ludo Philippaerts’ arena. It was a great opportunity; horses learn a lot on beautiful grass arenas like that. For Gilles, this lockdown was all the more disappointing as he had just been given the opportunity to jump the Global Champions Tour in Doha right before everything shut down. He has very good quality horses in his string, with good young horses coming through," explains Marc van Dijck, who is not just training his nephew. "Every day I still ride 6-7 horses. We work really well together. Gilles finished school last year and is now dedicated to riding full time."
