Carona leaves Kara Chad’s stables
On her social media, Canadian rider Kara Chad announced the departure of her long-time partner Carona (Untouchable 27). The gray has already joined her new American rider Stella Wasserman, and the new pair has already gotten off to an amazing start as they won a 1.35m event this weekend in Wellington.
Started internationally by Swedish rider Jonna Ekberg, the mare then joined the Canadian ranks alongside Eric Lamaze and Tiffany Foster, before spending some of her sporting career with Kara Chad in 2016. Carona enabled her to participate in her first Nations Cup final in Barcelona and her first World Equestrian Games in Tryon in 2018. Of their notable victories, there was the Mannheim CSI3* Grand Prix in 2017, before they helped secure a second team placing at home in the Spruce Meadows CSIO5* - where, by the way, they achieved a clear round. Most recently, the duo placed second at the Vejer de la Frontera CSI3*.
"Although I won’t see her in the barn aisle every morning, she will always be the sweetest, hungriest, and biggest hearted mare I may ever have in my career. Thank you Carona for giving me everything and more. You did wonders for my career and I know you will do the same for Stella!" said Kara Chad.
