Berdenn de Kergane has died
Following an inguinal hernia at the age of 9, Berdenn de Kergane, renamed Casco Bay, has left us, according to L’Éperon. In stallions, this condition is due to the abnormal passage of an intestinal segment or a portion of mesentery from the abdominal cavity into the inguinal canal.
This son of Quaprice was born at Louis Menier’s, a pride for Kergane breeding farm. In 2014, Berdenn de Kergane was the top priced 3-year-old at the Fences sales. Berdenn de Kergane began international competition under Daniel Moseley before being ridden by the American Laura Kraut since 2017. The pair won the Opglabbeek CSI2* and Vejer de la Fronter CSI3* Grand Prix’ last August and September. A fine horse of the future is lost to the rider.
