Alexander Housen is the new rider at the Van de Helle stables

30 April 2020

At the age of 18, Alexander Housen is one of a promising generation of up-and-coming Belgian young riders. Trained for many years by Johan Philippaerts, he was part of the Belgian team at several European Championships, from ponies to juniors, winning the gold medal in Fontainebleau.

Today, the son of veterinarian Wim Housen of New Nordic Horses has just begun riding two new stallions, which should allow him to revise his ambitions upward a little more. The first is Jilbert van't Ruytershof (Numero Uno x Cartani x Diamant de Sémilly), brother of the very prominent Pegase van't Ruytershof and grandson of Diamanthina van't Ruytershof, Emerald's full sister, who won numerous international competitions with Niels Bruynseels and Constant van Paesschen, and with whom Jilbert also started his international career, pursuing it to the highest level. And the second is the young 8-year-old Casillas van de Helle (Casall x Corrado x Capitol II) who was, until now, competing with Sander Everaert.
