Ursula XII Carries Scott Brash to Opening LGCT Grand Prix Win
Scott Brash of Great Britain became the winner of the first Longines Global Champions Tour Grand Prix of 2018, when the won the €310,000 LGCT Grand Prix of Mexico City CSI5* on Saturday, March 24, 2018 with Ursula XII. It was the third year that the LGCT has come to Mexico City, and the second year with the new competition format that includes the FEI-rated Global Champions League. With some new format changes from the way the GCL unfolded in 2017, it’s clear that organizers are working to streamline the flow of competition to make it easier for fans to understand and follow along. “After the Global Champions League single-round final, in which Denis Lynch and Michael Duffy took the win for Miami Celtics, the top 33 riders qualified to move forward to the grand prix. “Brash was best in an eight-horse jumpoff by nearly two seconds ahead of Germany’s Daniel Deusser and Tobago Z. Alberto Zorzi was 3rd with Contanga. “I’m absolutely delighted for Ursula and my team. She’s probably in her last season, so to get a big win here in Mexico is really rewarding for us all,” said Brash. Photo ©Stefano Grasso/LGCT
