New collaboration between Dominique Hendrickx and Star Horses
In 2008, Dominique Hendrickx won the four stars Grand Prix of Anvers with the young phenomenon of the Star Horses stables An Sidec (Andiamo Z) before ending their collaboration a few months later. Since then, numerous riders have succeeded to one another in the Peffer family with various successes until the sale, a few weeks ago, of almost all the stables. A hard blow for Damien Plume who has just thrown the towel.
“I am really disappointed. When I arrived, I came with sporting ambitions and the project of going back to the competition every week. Things were eventually quite different because after the good work I did for the auction… there were only two horses left. It was therefore difficult to build a sports career. Those last months have been very difficult for me because I went from deception to deception and now I have just taken another slap in the back and it is above all the discouragement that prevails because, in addition to the sports aspect, it is also a family that is once again off the streets. In January, we moved to Morkhoven with my wife and son, and we already have to take our pilgrim’s staff again because some people couldn’t stick to their word. It is really hard to live with. I will now step back a little, take care of my pupils who remained faithful to me despite the little time I had for them lately, like Georges Trulemans, Maria Magdalena and some few others, and I will also work some horses that I have in collaboration with the Brumes breeding, while taking a few steps back to analyze what’s next”, will open-mindedly explain Damien Plume.
10 years after a great year of successes, Dominique Hendrickx is welcoming this time in his stable two horses from his former owners: the former 7-years Belgian champion Kannabis Van De Bucxtale and the former 5-years Belgian champion Crush Second Life Z will from now on be part of the rider’s string of horses. “This time, Albert Peffer entrusts me two horses in my stables, I will not ride for them. We have had a nice collaboration some years ago. The end of our collaboration was quite a hard time for me because I lived so many good moments there, but on the other hand, we left each other in good terms and have always kept a nice private relationship. Today, I think that those good relationships make them think of me for those two horses, and I’m obviously happy they thought of me. One week ago, I made a difficult decision entrusting Bacardi les Hauts to Jérôme Guery but on the other hand, it also opened new doors for me since Jérôme entrusted me two good horses and I get back here two other horses. So I find myself with an interesting string of horses and good potentials for the level I aim to”, adds Dominique Hendrickx.
