The Tokyo Olympics dates have been released

The IOC decided quickly, making a decision on a new date for the Olympics just a few days after taking the decision to postpone the running of the 2020 Tokyo Olympics... the new dates have already been released. The Olympic Games have been postponed by a year, and will therefore take place from July 24 to August 9, 2021.

Ingmar de Vos, President of the International Equestrian Federation (FEI), congratulated the quick decision, which will allow athletes to plan and prepare themselves in the best conditions. The FEI will now be able to work on the schedule reorganization, and a decision will have to be made regarding the European Championships for dressage, show jumping, para-dressage, vaulting and driving, which are scheduled be held from August 18 to 23, 2020 in Budapest, and for the European Eventing Championships which are to be held at the Haras du Pin from August 11 to 15.

Ingmar Devos has also confirmed that, as with other disciplines, the qualified riders will keep their places for the Games despite the postponement.
