Christian Ahlmann took his chance in Paris!
Christian Ahlmann has won the Paris Eiffel Jumping Grand Prix***** with the 10-year-old stallion Take A Chance on Me Z (Taloubet Z), who was born at Zangersheide Stud, out of Judy Ann Melchior's first high level mare, Abba Z. What a beautiful way to celebrate the birth of his daughter, who was born a few days earlier. "On Monday, Judy Ann gave birth to our little girl, Ella Maria, and she wasn't very happy that I competed. I decided to go to Paris still and she said ´you better get a good result´. So we had to win, especially with this horse, Take A Chance On Me Z, who is very important to us. His sire is my heart horse, Taloubet Z, with whom I have won so many Grand Prix and World Cup competitions, and his dam, Abba Z, is a mare that Judy Ann (Melchior - editor's note) has ridden in Grand Prix’s. He was standing at Zangersheide Stud and I’d just gotten the ride back on him. He was a bit of a late starter, but he’s very easy now between the jumps, very concentrated. We'll see him again in Chantilly next week!"
The German was more than a second ahead of Belgian Céline Schoonbroodt on Chepetta (Chepetto) and Kevin Staut who continues to progress with the 10-year-old Oldenburg, Calevo (Casall). Fourth-place getter Penelope Leprévost also continues to progress with her great 9-year-old hope, Excalibur de la Tour Vidal (Ugano Sitte), who has made a remarkable entrance into the big league.
